JOB GOAL
The principal is the administrative head of the individual school and is responsible directly to the superintendent for the efficient and effective operation of the instructional program within the established policies of the Governing Board. In assuming the leadership role, the principal must accept responsibility for the following major tasks:Instructional leadership and curriculum improvementPersonnel administration and supervisionEffective and safe management procedures and operationSchool-community relationsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
shall include, but not be limited to the following:
Supervise the school's total educational programSupervise the instructional staff in the development and implementation of curriculum and student activitiesSupervise, monitor and/or promote the special educational and guidance program to enhance individual student education and developmentSupervise the school staff, both certified and classified, providing assistance and conducting evaluations, as necessaryAssist in the in-service orientation and training of teachers and other staff membersAssist in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning and evaluation of the school's professional staffEstablish and maintain favorable relationships with the public to promote understanding and solicit support for the DistrictMaintain active relationships with students and parentsPromote, monitor, and attend special events held to recognize student achievement, and attend school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic eventsAssume responsibility for all official school correspondence and news releasesPrepare and administer the school budget and supervise school financesMaintain and control the various local funds generated by student activitiesSupervise the maintenance of all building records and reports required by law and the Governing Board, including attendance reports for studentsAdminister the general policies and programs of the school system, making available to the staff all school board regulations enacted by the Governing Board or superintendentCoordinate or supervise such support service as transportation, maintenance, security, food services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions and library activitiesReport to appropriate central office administrators regarding the needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies, and curriculumMaintain proper inventory of capital and instructional supplies at the building levelApprove the master teaching schedule and any special assignmentImplement and maintain District guidelines for proper student conduct and discipline, according to due process rights of the studentsParticipate in District level meetings and committeesKeep abreast of changes and developments in the profession and encourage other staff members to do the samePerform other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent
