The Department of Radiology of The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking a 1.0 FTE academic cardiothoracic radiologist for a full-time faculty appointment on the Clinical Scholar Pathway at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. There is opportunity for departmental leadership such as Division Chief, Vice Chair of Research, or Education Director of Cardiothoracic Imaging. Candidates must have completed training in cardiothoracic radiology, or have equivalent experience, and must be ABR certified or eligible. The successful candidate will work in the Cardiothoracic Division at the University of Vermont Medical Center, which is part of the UVM Health Network Department of Radiology. Experience in radiology informatics or information technology is desirable.
The compensation package is competitive and faculty rank is commensurate with experience. The University of Vermont Medical Group offers loan repayment assistance.
The Cardiothoracic Division interprets chest radiography, dual-energy chest radiography and chest tomosynthesis, chest CT, cardiovascular CT, chest MR, cardiac MR. Cardiovascular CT Imaging includes calcium-scoring, coronary CTA, TAVR CTA, thoracic aortic CTA, and pulmonary vein CTA. Facilities are state-of-the-art with a clinical 3.0 Tesla magnet and four 1.5 Tesla magnets. CT includes two Brilliance ICT 256-slice scanners in close proximity to the Emergency Department, three 128-slice scanners, one 64-slice scanner and a spectral CT planned for 2023. The department has a dedicated 3D lab with the latest processing software. In addition, we have a state-of-the-art Vereos PET CT.
Our Cardiothoracic Division is comprised of 5 radiologists and provides high-quality and timely cardiac and thoracic imaging. We collaborate with our clinical colleagues in ILD, rad-path, and lung cancer multidisciplinary clinic and have an in-house world class pulmonary pathologist. There are opportunities to participate in research with our pulmonary and critical care colleagues in the Vermont Lung Center as well as dedicated thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. Our Lung Cancer Screening Program serves over 2000 active participants. Performance of interventional procedures is optional. The division provides a collegial, low stress working environment with an emphasis on work-life balance, including flexible scheduling and a rotating remote work option.
Ours is an academic practice of 44 full and part-time radiologists who serve as the clinical faculty for the ACGME Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology Residency programs at the University of Vermont. Faculty members are actively engaged in resident and medical student education including daily image interpretation and teaching conferences. Opportunities for protected time for scholarly activity are offered. A 3.0 Tesla dedicated research scanner operated by the University of Vermont MRI Center for Biomedical Imaging is housed in the Radiology Department and staffed by full time experienced research technologists and MR physicists. A dedicated research team supports Radiology Health Services Research in collaboration with investigators at UVM. There will be global health opportunities for the right candidate that could encompass clinical, research, or educational aspects. Among our research opportunities, the Cardiovascular Research Institute of Vermont (http://www.med.uvm.edu/cvri/home) and the Vermont Lung Center (https://www.med.uvm.edu/vermontlung/home) are potential sources of collaboration.
The University of Vermont Medical Center is the only tertiary referral center and Level 1 Trauma Center for the catchment area of Vermont and Northern Upstate New York. The Network Department of Radiology is part of the larger University of Vermont Health Network in Northern Vermont and New York, comprised of 6 smaller hospitals in addition to the University of Vermont Medical Center.
