The University Hospitals Center for Human Genetics at Cleveland Medical Center is seeking a Biochemical Genetics physician (full or part-time applicants will both be considered). 

This position will support growth in Clinical Genetics and Translational Genetics and Genomics in Clinical practice at the major teaching affiliate of the CWRU School of Medicine (SOM).  Clinical and Metabolic Genetic services are provided by the Center for Human Genetics (CHG) throughout the University Hospitals system, across the full spectrum of age and conditions.  Clinical activities can be adapted to meet the clinical and/or research interests of the successful applicant and will also include inpatient/ emergency on-call coverage for pediatric and adult patients with general Genetics and inborn errors of metabolism. Inpatient/emergency call is currently shared among 9 Geneticists in our group, leading to on call responsibilities occurring 2-3 days per month with some remote back up call service provided for those who are not boarded in Biochemical Genetics.

  • Support for the clinical research studies in provided by two full time research assistants and a full time regulatory specialist.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates are expected to be excellent collaborators and creative in providing clinical care.
  • Willing teachers and advisors at the graduate and post-graduate level.
  • Willing to provide service at local, regional and national levels depending on academic rank, and to show consistent scholarly productivity. 
  • Applicants must have a MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree
  • Board certification in clinical genetics and/or (clinical or medical) biochemical genetics.
  • Active Ohio Medical License in good standing upon effective date of employment
