Henry Ford Health is seeking a Division Head in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pancreatology and Nutrition. About the Department of Pediatrics:

As part of exciting development, Henry Ford Health has launched the growth of its Pediatric services. The vision includes expansion of the inpatient footprint and development of all Pediatric subspecialties. Henry Ford Health Pediatrics is a systems Department and has an inpatient presence at its West Bloomfield Hospital, Macomb Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital. The flagship campus, downtown is the location of a 3 billion dollar major investment for the system with its Destination Grand. With major expansion of the new academic medical center at Henry Ford Hospital, we are joining forces with Shirley Ryan Ability Lab to create a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital within our new patient tower. The state-of-the-art medical research facility for Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences will be home to multiple shared research efforts benefitting patients and members from down the street, to across our region and the globe.

With an expansive primary care network for Pediatrics, the addition of new as well as growth of existing comprehensive specialty care is in progress.

With a group of 131 physicians/providers, comprising primary care, specialties, APP and more than 150 support staff, clinical care is provided at 34 sites, including 4 Henry Ford hospitals and 12 ambulatory state of the art centers. Level 3 and level 2 NICU care is provided by a very strong team of neonatologists and the inpatient services are supported by a robust hospitalist group.

The Department receives medical students and residents from Michigan State University as well as Wayne State University and participates in academic development and research with both entities. A Henry Ford dedicated Pediatrics Residency Program is planned for the future.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is being developed as an integral and foundational specialty. With plans for the development of several centers of excellence in IBD, Nutrition, Celiac, Hepatobiliary and Pancreas, Airway, EOE and Food Allergy, Neurogastroenterology to name a few. With extremely robust Adult GI and Hepatology/Transplant support, Transition programs and the development of multi-disciplinary clinical and research collaboration is also in progress. General endoscopic procedures are done at several fully equipped endoscopy suites with opportunity for advanced procedures as well.

Requirements

We are seeking innovative, energetic individuals who would like to be part of a phenomenal, exciting opportunity to help develop foundational Pediatric services for children in Michigan. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead the development of the centers of excellence and to drive the academic and clinical components of this growth. As part of Henry Ford Health and its expansion, there will also be numerous leadership opportunities within the Department of Pediatrics and the system. Clinical responsibilities include ambulatory and inpatient care, consultative services, and performance of general GI procedures. The candidate is expected to lead and to participate in the supervision and education of medical students and residents. Competence in general pediatric gastrointestinal procedures will be required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

M.D., Ph.D. / M.D. / D.O. degree, or equivalent

Completion of an ACGME approved fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology

Licensed by the Michigan Medical Board

Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, subspecialty certification in pediatric gastroenterology medicine (or eligible for same)
