Hospital Medicine - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

The School of Medicine is pleased to announce the Department of Medicine's Hospitalist Division is seeking nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants with 2+ years of experience in inpatient or post-acute care settings to join their patient-centered care team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Independently provide professional medical support services on the Medicine inpatient floors by collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
- Orders/performs diagnostic procedures; monitors patient condition, lab values, and results of diagnostic procedures; and develops treatment goals.
- Collaborates with supervising physicians in difficult or complicated cases and as agreed upon in collaborative agreement.
- Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in areas of expertise.
- Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians.
- Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.
- Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE - Qualifications
- Master’s degree required.
- Required Licensure or Certification:
- Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
- May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics or Psychiatry. Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
NURSE PRACTITIONER SPECIALTY CARE - Qualifications
- Master's degree is required.
- Required Licensure or Certification:
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- May possess a specialty certificate from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
- Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted a “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
