Position Overview: Denver Health and Hospital Authority seeks an experienced executive leader and communicator to assume the role of Chief Ambulatory Officer. This pivotal position entails providing strategic leadership for the Ambulatory Care Department and Denver Community Health Services. The ideal candidate will formulate and execute strategic plans to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care while optimizing operational efficiency and outcomes. This executive leader will be responsible for the management of the Denver Health network of Federally Qualified Health Centers, which provide direct patient care, house residency education programs, and offer an array of other community health services for a diverse patient population in the Denver area. This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer at Denver Health and be a core member of the executive leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans for Ambulatory Care and Community Health Services.
  • Manage human and financial resources to optimize operational efficiency and outcomes.
  • Enhance care management strategies, preventative care, disease management, patient satisfaction, and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices within Ambulatory Care and Community Health Services.
  • Collaborate with Administrative, Nursing, Medical, and Financial divisions.
  • Contribute significantly to the organizational mission, vision, strategy, and goals.
  • Participate actively in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
  • Foster collaborative relationships to shape the future direction of Denver Healths ambulatory care services.
  • Supervises eight direct reports which make up the core leadership within ambulatory care
  • Indirectly supervises 140 physicians, 50 dental providers, and 85 advanced care providers across all ambulatory care settings.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably senior medical or operations leadership experience.
  • Experience within a high-performing, integrated healthcare system.
  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in roles that typically include Associate Chair, Department Chair, VP of Physician Services, Chief Medical Officer, Associate Chief Operating Officer, Chief Operating Officer, etc.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • M.D. D.O., D.D.S./D.M.D., Masters
