Position Summary For Material Handler 2 (Loading, Shipping, Receiving)

: Material Handler 2 is responsible for loading, shipping, receiving, and ensuring the accurate transportation of materials, stock, merchandise, supplies, and other finished products to designated locations including preparation for shipment. In general Material Handler 2's may take on all of the responsibilities of a Material Handler 1, however are more highly skilled and engage in more complex material handling activities as defined below. These materials will include hazardous and non-hazardous materials within the warehouse.

Responsibilities For Material Handler 2 (Loading, Shipping, Receiving)

Specific Responsibilities for loading, shipping & receiving:Engage in all shipping, receiving, and loading activities, verifying count of all materials is accurate, stored in the appropriate location (including any transfer crate, shipping doc area, or outbound trucks when appropriate), prepared for delivery on time, expedite shipments that affect the schedule, and escalates any issue that arises to supervisorMaintain database of shipment and receiving data for all incoming, outgoing, and returned materials to ensure that company inventory and customer orders/accounts are updated, that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting, or other associated departments as requiredInspect, record and label all materials received, shipped or loaded being sure that all materials are free from damage or defect, and reporting any damage or defect to supervisor.Prepare bills of lading, day tickets for shipments, sign for inventory being shipped to warehouse, and verify integrity of data recordedNotifies supervisor of significant discrepancies related under/over-shipments, loading or unloading issues, substitutions, damage, or defectOperate machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and lift trucks to move material, and shrink-wraps orders when appropriateEngaging in all safety measures associatedGeneral Responsibilities for Material Handler 1:

Assist with transporting and loading of stock, merchandise, supplies, and other materialsProvide quality assurance for all products, ensuring items properly identified, and are free from defectReceive, distribute, store, transport, and load products and materials (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids) in designated, secure locations.Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed per standard operating proceduresKeep warehouse clean/organized by collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment.Update account of stock and inventory records as necessary per standard operating procedure and in partnership with the Inventory Control DepartmentVerifying accuracy of quantity and quality of deliveries, provide quality assurance for all productsCommunicate with supervisor regarding times and ensuring that deadlines are metWhen problems arise, escalate to supervisor to resolve issues with contractors or vendors.Work with various team members, departments and supervisors to identify and engage in opportunities for increased efficiencyPerforms other related duties, including clerical as assignedEngage in all safety standard operating proceduresQualifications for Material Handler 2 (Picking/Selecting & Checking/Quality Control)

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

At least two (2) years of experience working in a warehouse or distribution center.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Physical stamina and attention to detailExperience operating an electric pallet jack or forkliftOrganized and ability to work with team membersProficient math skillsProficient with Microsoft Office softwareEfficient time management skillsPreferred Qualifications:

License in operating electric pallet jack or forklift (Required)Working Conditions:
