Overview

As the Director of Product Design, you will be instrumental in steering the design of groundbreaking mobile activity platforms and experiences reminiscent of Strava and Duolingo's gamification techniques. This role demands a visionary leader capable of orchestrating the design strategy and execution across our entire product lineup. You will report directly to the VP of Product and lead a dynamic team of designers, all while working in close synergy with Product, Engineering, QA, and Data Science teams to deliver designs that resonate with our user base and uphold the Blitz brand.This position

requires

all hires to be onsite Monday - Thursday out of our Los Angeles (Playa Vista) office, with the option to WFH on Friday.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Design Leadership: Drive the overall design vision for Blitz’s products, focusing on mobile-first strategies and gamified user experiences that engage and retain users.Innovative Solution Implementation: Spearhead the conceptualization and implementation of innovative design solutions that meet market needs and align with technological trends.User-Centric Design Philosophy: Employ a thorough understanding of user behavior and needs to develop intuitive and engaging products.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various teams to define goals, establish design standards, and achieve strategic objectives.Brand and Narrative Development: Craft compelling product narratives and align all design outputs with the Blitz brand identity to enhance user engagement and brand loyalty.Process Optimization: Enhance and streamline the design process to maintain efficiency and effectiveness at scale.

What It Takes

Experience: 8+ years in product design with a proven track record of leading design in tech-focused enterprises, particularly in mobile platforms and gamified systems.Expertise in Design Tools: Mastery of Figma and other relevant design software.Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience managing and inspiring design teams.Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional ability to communicate and collaborate across all levels of an organization.Passion for Innovation: A drive to create engaging, impactful products that resonate with users globally.

Nice To Have

User Experience: Personal experience with Blitz or similar platforms, particularly in gaming.Technical Skills: Familiarity with HTML/CSS and/or React JS.Design System Development: Experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive design systems.
