DescriptionWe seek an Ultrasound Technologist to work in a fast-paced, high-volume Cancer Center. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Sonographer always maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve.SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIES:Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and imagesUses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findingsAnalyses: sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.Assists with the daily operations of the sonographic department.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Performs all requested sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians when required, according to established procedures.Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff memberOTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job may require traveling to other CARTI Clinics. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE AND REGISTRATIONHigh school diplomaGraduate of a formal accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography ProgramCurrent valid Ultrasound Technologist certification (ARDMS)Current compliance with continuing Medical Education (CME) requirementsExperience as defined by institution.Current BLS CPR certificationPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee frequently performs moderate lifting of patients, machine accessories and patient devices/equipment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear.The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit reach with hands and arms, and use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environments described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
