The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Childrens Mercy Kansas City is seeking a pediatric nephrologist to join our team. The Division has been recognized as one of the top 10 nephrology programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report for the past 12 years, ranking # 4 this year.

This opportunity will reside in our Wichita, KS, location affiliated with Wesley Medical Center. This practice, and a variety of other CMH subspecialty services located in Wichita, draws from a large region in Western Kansas. Physicians participate in CM educational activities and conferences through teleconferencing. Colleagues at CMH Kansas City are readily accessible for professional discussions and consultation. Childrens Mercys Night Call Service can be utilized for triage support.

The current faculty in the Division of Nephrology include 13 board certified nephrologists, 2 dietitians, 2 social workers, a dedicated psychologist, 5 transplant coordinators, 5 nurse practitioners, 3 research nurses, a child life specialist, and nursing personnel in clinic and dialysis with 100% effort dedicated to Nephrology. 

The Division of Nephrology includes a large outpatient clinical service with specialty clinics in hypertension, voiding disorders/enuresis, genetics, dialysis/transplantation, and bone/mineral disorders; a nationally and internationally recognized end-stage kidney disease program providing home peritoneal dialysis, in-center hemodialysis and one of the nations few home hemodialysis programs for children; an active acute kidney replacement therapy program and a kidney transplant program that has the 2nd best hazard ratio (e.g. risk of graft loss) in the nation. 

Research is a Division priority as reflected by faculty leadership and/or active participation in highly productive collaborations including CKiD, SCOPE, NAPRTCS, IPPN, CureGN, NEPTUNE, and PNRC, in addition to a number of industry sponsored initiatives and a variety of faculty led bench/translational research programs.

Childrens Mercy Wichita is a regional center of Childrens Mercy Kansas City and offers a child-friendly environment to provide Wichita area families with world-class pediatric care. Our dedicated clinic, located near the campus of Wesley Medical Center, offers permanent and outreach pediatric subspecialty clinics and telemedicine services. These services are part of our commitment to provide all area families with high quality pediatric care. The work of the pediatric subspecialists who live and work in Wichita is complemented by outreach clinics provided by pediatric subspecialists and staff from Childrens Mercy Kansas City. Wichita Nephrology provides outpatient clinic services 5 days per week. We currently have 1 board certified nephrologist, 1 nurse practitioner, 1 social worker and 1 dietician working full time in Wichita. Subspecialty clinics in Pediatric Urology and Pediatric Renal Genetics also take place in this location.

The Childrens Mercy nephrologist in Wichita serves as Medical Director of the pediatric dialysis unit at Wesley Medical Center. Inpatient nephrology consultation and HD, PD and CRRT services are available to patients at Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi Medical Center. There are also ample opportunities to educate/mentor medical students and residents and to engage in clinical research studies in collaboration with the Nephrology faculty located in Kansas City. The central Kansas location of the Childrens Mercy Wichita clinic brings pediatric subspecialty care closer to patients and their families residing in remote areas of Kansas.
