JOB SUMMARYAs the Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), you will work with our teams to increase opportunities for Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE's). This includes a commitment to broadening and deepening our relationships with MWBE trade partners, vendors, suppliers, professional service providers, and internal team members. The Director of DE&I will work in conjunction with the President to create innovative and unique MWBE Programs that are designed to make a powerful impact and significant contributions in the communities in which we conduct business.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required of personnel so classified.

1. Designing and putting into practice MWBE programs that will address the needs and expectations of our clients who require innovative and efficient procedures and approaches for effective and achievable MWBE participation programs.2. Coordinate with internal teams in collecting MWBE statistical data to communicate company initiatives.3. Assist in identifying and finding solutions to the challenges, concerns and employment needs that are unique to business ownership by MWBE firms.4. Review, advise and write language for MWBE component of Request for Proposals, etc.5. Review & Interpret governmental agency’s laws, procedures and regulations pertaining to MWBE programs for project teams.6. Conduct informational MWBE utilization awareness sessions with HBC personnel that will aid in ensuring compliance with the current legal requirements.7. Conduct oral presentations with community representatives, clients and agencies regarding HBC’s commitment to MWBE programs.8. Serve as liaison to local MWBE community organizations, trade associations, government officials and advocacy groups to establish and maintain beneficial working relationships and assist MWBE's in understanding our company’s procurement process.9. Work with MWBE's so that they fully understand company bidding requirements and are thus able to bid appropriately.10. Assist and/or conduct pre-bid meetings, preconstruction conferences to review project goals and approve subcontracting plans.11. Assist in creating and implementing seminars, workshops and developmental programs for MWBE community that may include: Project open houses, sponsoring and participating in trade fairs/seminars etc., hosting employment fairs, and management & technical assistance training programs.12. Oversees the design of procedures to ensure compliance with internal policies and external diversity regulations.13. Oversee and enhance the plan to meet, and ideally surpass, the MWBE and workforce goals.14. Review current processes and policies to determine if they support diversity and inclusion work.15. Develop best practices and along with leadership, promote awareness and understanding of DEI practices within the company.16. Conduct in-house training and recruit outside trainers to meet staff and organizational professional development needs.17. Develop strategies to attract, develop, and retain members of underrepresented groups.18. Work with hiring managers to improve diversity throughout the recruiting and hiring process.19. Staying informed on diversity best practices and trends.20. Use statistics, metrics, and reports to assess the progress and effectiveness of diversity initiatives.21. Assists in identifying new business opportunities.

GENERAL BACKGROUND AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

College Degree with (preferred) minimum 5+ years’ experience in Supplier Diversity Program Management.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to direct, organize, and communicate with community representatives, government officials, clients, project teams and contractors/ subcontractor.

Must be familiar with local contracting community, have a good platform skill to communicate with community representatives, clients, project team and contractors/ subcontractor.

The ability to interact and respond to varying situations with good judgment and diplomacy.

Proven ability in planning, organizing, and implementing work priorities.

Must have thorough understanding of local, municipal, or governmental requirements and have the ability to interpret regulations to company project teams.

Travel periodically to sites in NC & SC.
