ANESTHESIOLOGIST Needed at Federal Hospital in Oklahoma-Start in OctoberOur client is a Federal Hospital that serves a large portion of our Native American population in Oklahoma. We are working with them to provide a qualified Anesthesiologist to start in October for a 6-12 month contract.Duties1. Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.2. Requests consultations and diagnostic studies.3. Selects, obtains, orders and administers pre-anesthetic medications and fluids.4. Obtains informed consent for anesthesia from the patient or legal guardian.5. Develops and implements a patient-specific anesthetic plan.6. Tailors plan to manage anatomical, physiological, psychological and behavioral differences related to a patient's age,gender, race, religion, nationality, and disability, social or economic status.7. Initiates the anesthetic technique which may include: general, regional, local, and sedation.8. Selects, applies, and inserts appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of thepatient's physical status.9. Selects, obtains, and administers the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic.10. Maintains the patient's physiologic homeostasis.11. Corrects abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery.12. Manages a patient's airway and pulmonary status which may include: endotracheal or nasotracheal intubation, fiberopticlaryngoscopy, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.13. Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia.14. Selects, obtains, orders and administers medications, fluids, and ventilation support to maintain homeostasis.15. Provides relief from pain and anesthesia side effects.16. Prevents or manages complications.17. Provides relief from nausea and vomiting.18. Discharges the patient from the post-anesthesia care unit.19. Provides post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications.20. Orders, initiates or modifies pain relief therapy.21. Utilizes drugs, regional anesthetic techniques, or other accepted pain relief modalities.22. Ensures complete, accurate, and timely documentation of pertinent information on the patient's medical record.23. Inspects, maintains, and operates anesthesia machine and all adjunct equipment.24. Implements operator trouble-shooting and corrective actions.25. Responds to emergency situations.26. Provides airway management.27. Administers emergency fluids and drugs.28. Implements basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques, as indicated.29. Care of Pain Management patients as required30.
