The Job Responsibilities

To lead in the detail design of complex fire, flame & gas detection system projects in the Oil & Gas, Chem/Petrochem, Clean Energy, and other Industrial markets within the USA & Canada. The job includes, but is not limited to; bidding, designing, executing, and closing the projects within the cost, time, and quality constraints and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Provide technical support and continuity with Dräger's manufacturing reps, regional sales teams, business development team, and end users regarding fire and gas detection system designs. Remain current with applicable Fire, Gas and Process Safety industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, UL864, ISA 60079-29, ISA 84 and others. Responsible for reading and interpreting construction documents/drawings and technical specifications to design and bid fire & gas system projects which will utilize various forms of detection and annunciation devices (fire/flame, gas, smoke, heat, beacons, horns, pull stations), integrated fire & suppression release panels, and safety controllers. Develop effective, value-add bid packages which may require both prescriptive and performance-based approaches that include system layout drawings, fire & gas system layout drawings, 3D Mapping study results, and other engineering documentation required by the codes such as NFPA 72 and/or in response to customer inquiries and requests for proposal. Present to and advise EPCs, integrators, and end users on fire and gas detection strategies and system design considerations, proposed system solutions, as well as code reviews with applicability, and compliance recommendations. Remain current with related safety regulations and policies with respect to the Dräger products being sold. Operates in accordance with already established company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Your Qualifications

Education:

4-year degree in a related discipline from an accredited university in electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or chemical engineering.

Related Experience:

3-5+ years system engineering design, integration, or technical sales support experience within the fire and/or gas detection industry. Experience in the commercial and technical preparation of Fire & Gas system bid proposal packages is highly desirable.

Special Competencies or Certifications:

Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, UL864 and ISA 84 Must be able read and understand customer documents to gather information necessary to design Fire & Gas Detection Systems that meet or exceed customer requirements. Must be knowledgeable with AutoCAD and other CAD software to perform the design work. Working knowledge of various fire, flame, and gas detection products sold by the market leaders, including those sold by Dräger and their competitors, is required. Working knowledge of Navisworks 3D Software and Flame and Gas 3D Mapping software a plus. Familiarity with gas sampling/aspiration systems, industrial hazardous area classifications and hazardous gas applications and their interface to PLC based control systems, SCADA, and other communication Networks also a plus. PE license (TX, LA, CA and/or other) in Fire Protection also a plus.
