Our Operating Room Surgical Technicians play a crucial role in assisting surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room functions smoothly and safely. Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring that all equipment, instruments, and supplies are properly sterilized, organized, and available for use.Assist surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and maintaining a sterile field.Set up and operate specialized surgical equipment, including lights, suction devices, and diagnostic equipment, following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures, including draping, gowning, and gloving, to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.Assist with patient positioning and prepping, applying sterile drapes and securing equipment as directed by the surgical team.Anticipate and respond to emergency situations in the operating room, including providing additional supplies or assistance as needed.Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of procedures, communicating effectively and respectfully with all team members.Assist with post-operative tasks, such as wound closure, dressing application, and transferring patients to recovery areas, following established protocols and guidelines.Participate in quality assurance activities, including maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures, equipment usage, and patient care documentation.Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times, promoting a culture of safety and accountability in the operating room.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of accredited surgical technology program preferred.Must possess one (1) year experience in hospital setting.Prefer minimum of 1 year current operating room experience.Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs and adapt to changing priorities during surgical procedures.Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members under pressure.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in patient care.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Credentials

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification

Education

High school diploma or equivalent requiredGraduated from a Surgical Technology program
