A Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the medical and clinical aspects of the organization. The chief medical officer establishes and updates the best practices for quality of care, educates clinical team members about improving their practice, and implements quality improvement measures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Business or Health Care Administration Preferred

MD/DO Required

8+ years of experience in the practice of medicine Required

Ability to communicate effectively with the medical community, system administration, management staff, and employees. Required

Self-motivated and able to work independently, exercising independent judgment. Required

Ability to assess situations, respond appropriately, make independent decisions, and initiate and implement policy and procedures. Required

Superior organizational and documentation skills. Required

Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Required

Ability to perform highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, and have the ability to apply said knowledge to a variety of situations. Required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Functions as part of the ELFHCC Executive Leadership Team. Serves as a liaison between administration and the medical staff creating a positive and progressive climate for interaction between the two. Designs and implements a robust communication strategy to align medical staff. Represents the facility in the community, as requested.

Develop and implement clinical protocols and standards to maintain and improve the quality of care.

Provide leadership and oversight for all clinical staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment for healthcare providers.

Contribute to developing and implementing strategic plans that align with ELFHCC's mission and goals.

Identify opportunities for expanding services and improving healthcare delivery.

Oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including those specific to FQHCs.

Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and adjust policies and procedures accordingly.

Collaborate with other executives and departments to ensure seamless operations across the organization.

Communicate effectively with internal staff, external partners, and regulatory agencies.

CRITICAL SKILL/REQUIREMENTS

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a fast-paced office and community setting, requiring local travel. Physical demands include prolonged sitting/standing and phone use. Lifting and carrying PR equipment and supplies (5-10 lbs.) may be required.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
