TITLE : MIS Data Assistant

LOCATION: WYCO SPED COOP

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students and 60+ different languages are spoken in the homes of our students. With Head Start/preschools, 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 college and career academies/high schools, we are the fifth largest district in the state of Kansas and our student population is approximately 51% Hispanic, 27% African American, 11% White, and 7% Asian. To serve our students, the district employs approximately 4,000 employees including more than 1,600 teachers.

JOB GOAL:

To assist with the management of student data. Data is defined as all information pertaining to the records of special education students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collect, enter, and verify MIS data Assist with the review, maintenance, and storage of IEPs and accompanying paperwork Verify that student data matches in all relevant data bases (for example, Access, WebKidss, SILK, Skyward, Edulog, KIDS Assignment System, WebNow) Manage student data in Access and WebKidss for students moving in to the Cooperative, moving out of the Cooperative, and moving within the Cooperative Export student data from district databases for special education reports Compile data, summarize information, and provide written and/or oral reports to special education administrators Enter Child Outcomes Summary Forms information into database Verify all data for Indicator 7 (Preschool Skills) and Indicator 12 (Part C to B Transition) Understand and maintain a working knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to confidentiality of student records, Family Education Rights & Privacy Act, and all procedures related to student information Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Assistant Director of Special Education Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma required (Associate's of Arts or above preferred) Proficient using standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access; FileMaker Pro; email, district student enrollment software, Individual Education Program system (WebKidss) Organized and detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills Able to multi-task and problem solve Excellent interpersonal skills and professional judgment

COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION : Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students.

Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.

Performs other related work as required.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
