We are seeking a highly motivated individual to become a member of the Institutional Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Shared Resource at St Jude Children's Research Hospital. This facility is extraordinarily supported by Institutional funding rather than grant-based funding to enable a wide range of services provided to all of St Jude investigators and is equipped with state-of-the-art conventional and spectral Flow Cytometry equipment including 8 cell sorters and 12 cell analyzers. We focus on moving science forward instead of cost recovery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with investigators across all departments to move the mission forward and will also have the potential to train individuals institution-wide.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Director to develop and implement operational policies and procedures to facilitate smooth operations and support the Core mission to serve the research community effectively.Monitor instrument performance and coordinate the maintenance with vendors to ensure smooth operation daily.Provide administrative support: order lab consumables and supplies, and organize inventory.Play a vital role in coordinating service activities, maintaining compliance, and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.Serve as a key person to communicate with internal team members and external users/PIs.Stay updated on the latest Flow Cytometry techniques.Manage staff and provide guidance, support, and training to ensure efficient effective performance.Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.Minimum Education and/or Training:Bachelor's degree is requiredMinimum Experience:Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is requiredFive (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degreeThree (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhDLeadership or supervisory experience is required.Preferred skillsExcellent written and communication skills.Ability to work as part of a team.Experience in cell sorting, performing high-parameter panel design, and data analysis is highly preferred.Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of users.Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ExcelExcellent multi-tasking skillsEagerness to learn and implement new techniques.CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Lab Manager- Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Shared Resource.
