API Developer
Role & Responsibilities:
This position is on the API Management team within Digital. The team is responsible for the process, controls, and tools that support API development, security, publishing, consumption, and monitoring.Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable featuresMaintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habitsIdentifies and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the teamGuide the team to develop a structured application/interface code, new program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in a casual, flexible environment.Communicate with end-users and internal customers to help direct the development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.Typical Day:
Work within API Management team, hands-on APIGEE Edge , OAS Spec review, Proxy development .Hybrid work , need to be at located at commutable distance from Chicago, Peoria or Dallas, TXReviewing OAS /Swaggers - OperationalDeveloping Proxies - OperationsDeveloping Automations -Rotational weekly On Call Support /Incident Management using Service Now.Education:
Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university; 2-4 years' experience in software developmentMasters Degree: 2 years or more of software development experienceTechnical Skills:

Experience writing API proxies on platforms such as Apigee Edge, AWS API Gateway or Azure API Gateway or similar.Hands on experience with API tools such as Swagger Editor & Postman, and linting tools like Spectral.Knowledge of security standards such as OAuth 2.0 and TLS.(Desired)
Familiarity working in a Scrum environmentMust demonstrate solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms.Hands on experience with metrics and visualization tools like Kibana, Grafana, or equivalent.Soft Skills:
Excellent written and verbal skillsAbility to work under pressure and within time constraintsPassion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environmentReliable and Proactive - able to work independently towards deadlines
