Job Description
ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Alarm Systems Installation and Maintenance Technician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Earackson Air Station.
This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on shift at a time, 1 month off, at Earackson Air Station (EAS), located in Sheyma, AK. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft.
Summary/General Description of Job:
The incumbent installs, inspects tests, maintains, and repairs intrusion detection and fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards. This position will require the incumbent to travel to other project locations for extended periods of time. Essential Duties Job Functions:
Inspects fire alarm detection and annunciation equipment and replaces defective componentsRepair fire alarm systems as required to eliminate all trouble signalsAccomplish recurring scheduled inspections and or maintenanceRespond to all reported troubles and correct system errorsMaintain fire alarm systems per UFC 3-601-2Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitterMakes needed repairs, and checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers and recharges or replaces containersAssure suppression systems are free of corrosion and assure operationCoordinate and report all system status to station fire chiefMaintain maintenance and inspection computerized records up to date in NFPA required formatMaintain, troubleshoot and repair intrusion detection systems (Vindicator)Performs related work as assigned. Accountable For:Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and underground.Solid-state and conventional control circuitry,Using hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.Understanding and following directions.Reading and working from blueprints and engineering drawings.
Work Conditions:
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders, as well as elevated platform, and confined spaces when required to access systems. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.
Requirements
Mandatory :
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Cont’d Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in inspection and repair of fire alarm, detection, annunciation and suppression systems.
• Honeywell Vindicator Certification or obtain within 180 days of hire.
• Obtain an interim security clearance and obtain a secret clearance
Mandatory:
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class 1B) certification for fire alarm detection and annunciation systems
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class II B) certification for water-based suppression systems
• Current and ability to maintain NICET Level II (AK Class III B) certification for special hazards suppression systems Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test
Preferred:
• Experience working in a remote location
• Confined space training
