Latitude Inc, Baltimore, Maryland, United States, 21276

Responsibilities:System Design:

Design electrical power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks, for industrial, commercial, and utility-scale applications. Develop conceptual designs, single-line diagrams, and schematics based on project requirements and specifications.Equipment Specification:

Specify electrical equipment and components for power systems, such as generators, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays. Evaluate technical specifications, performance characteristics, and cost considerations to select optimal equipment solutions.Analysis and Simulation:

Perform power system analysis using simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT) to assess system performance, stability, and reliability. Conduct load flow studies, short-circuit analyses, transient stability analyses, and harmonic analyses to validate design assumptions and identify potential issues.Protection and Control:

Develop protection and control schemes for electrical power systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Design relay settings, coordination studies, and fault protection schemes to detect and mitigate abnormal operating conditions, faults, and disturbances.Renewable Energy Integration:

Integrate renewable energy sources (e.g., solar, wind, hydro) into existing power systems. Evaluate grid integration challenges, such as intermittency, voltage regulation, and grid stability, and propose solutions to optimize renewable energy integration and maximize system efficiency.Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in power engineering. Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards, such as IEEE, NERC, NEC, and local utility requirements, to power system designs and installations.Project Management:

Manage electrical engineering projects from conception to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and delivery.Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare technical specifications, design reports, engineering drawings, and documentation packages for power system projects. Document design decisions, assumptions, calculations, and recommendations in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus.8+ years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably in power generation, transmission, or distribution.Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, transient stability, and protection coordination.Knowledge of electrical equipment, components, and standards for power systems design and installation.Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, grid integration, and energy storage systems.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Effective communication, teamwork, and project management skills.Professional engineering license (PE) or willingness to obtain licensure.$150,000 - $190,000 a year#J-18808-Ljbffr
