The Diagnostic Imaging Vet Assistant is under the direct guidance and supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor, the radiologists, and the Hospital Administrator. Occupants of this position are required to assist the practitioners, Client Patient Care Coordinators (CPC), Client Service Technicians (CST), and Sonographers to help improve the quality of the care given to the patients of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. This position requires timely management of major responsibilities and flexibility to assist as able within the DI department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting DI Staff, Radiologists, and Sonographers with patients for imaging studiesAssisting PCTs/CSTs, Radiologists, and Intern Veterinarians with patient physical examsAssisting in patient's imaging drop-off appointmentsTransport of patients requiring imaging studies from the requesting department to the imaging and backAssisting in restraining and positioning patients for ultrasoundObtain vitals during ultrasound scans (HR, RR, BP and Temp) Jessica Spires accept call, yes. OK,Obtaining quality, diagnostic radiographsData entry including, but not limited to: Imaging requests, invoicing imaging charges, uploading imaging reports into medical record system, sending/uploading imaging to referring clinics, etc.Proper use of the diagnostic imaging equipment including, but not limited to: Start up and shut down of equipment and computers, entering patient information into equipment, safe use and maintenance of equipmentUnderstanding & complying with proper protective equipment (PPE) and DosimetryStocking and cleaning in all department common areasAssisting with laundry, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, etcDisinfecting all equipment after each patientWalk, feed, and assist with treatments for any hospitalized patients as neededAssisting in GCVTelemed clinics with their imaging consults submissionAssisting in other departments of GCVS as neededParticipating in rotational schedules-working some Saturdays and/or Sundays as needed by Diagnostic ImagingAbility to learn and work with PACs, Outlook, practice management software and/or other hospital management or imaging softwareUsing social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Ability to modify approach as appropriate.Knowledge of clinic procedures in support of streamlining clients' experiences with us.Knowledge of patient care standards in support of providing the highest level of medical case management.Knowledge of client communication standards to provide the highest level of customer service.Job Requirements:

Job allows employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.Must be able to:Stand 60% or longer of an 8-hour workday.Walk up to 50% of an 8-hour workday.Sit 40% of an 8-hour workday.Requires ability to lift up to 10 pounds continuously.Requires employee to bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level frequently. Climb and twist occasionally.Requires repetitive use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulationRequires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.Environment: 1. Greater than 90% of time spent indoors. 2. Temperature and humidity norms indoor. 3. Exposure to cleaning agents.Exposure to electrical current.Qualifications:

Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Texas with direct experience in the field of DI, not required but preferred.High School diploma is required, Associate's degree (A. A.) is preferred; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education / experience.Current clinical leadership experience in the discipline of direct reports.2-3 year of veterinary experienceAdapts positively to the ever-changing healthcare environment by supporting technology and process changes.Ability to empathize with others and demonstrate a values-based work style is required.Must possess excellent listening and interpersonal skills and problem-solving methods.Must be able to work varying hours as required.

Starting compensation is based on experience and ranges from $16.00 - $19.00 per hour.
