YWCA Dayton Position Description

YWCA Dayton, a 24 hours organization dedicated to the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women, seeks an energetic, dedicated person to be an integral part of our team. As an Exempt level position, the Director of Development & Communications is passionate about " Making a Difference " in the lives of all within our community. This position is mission oriented and expected to work 40 plus hours weekly with some evenings and weekend activities.

The Director of Development & Communications works closely with the CFO/COO to ensure proper tracking and stewardship of revenue and expense of department budgets. This position is responsible for design for giving, including identifying, engaging and retaining major donors, community supporters and corporate gifts. This position develops and executes creative fund-raising strategies, meeting annual revenue target, increasing and stabilizing donor portfolio, all resulting in increased organizational resources, partnerships, revenue and YWCA Mission awareness.

PRIMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Development & Communications is responsible for providing strategic direction and developing a comprehensive fundraising strategic plan encompassing all facets of development including, but not limited to, annual giving, individual gifts, corporate and foundation gifts, government grants, direct mail and online donations, planned gifts, special events and project sponsorship; acquiring and maintaining sound knowledge of the organization, and uses that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which development and communications can foster, increase, and support the growth of the organization and its mission; develop, strategize, and execute campaigns to increase organizational presence, delivery of services, efficiencies, and diversified revenue streams; Integrates the YWCA Dayton mission with fundraising strategy by identifying solutions to gaps in giving at the intersections of race, class, and gender; implements programs/activities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors targeted at the $10,000+ level or higher, personally solicits assigned donor portfolio, including preparation of donor packets and meeting collateral. The Director continually evaluates the budget and make departmental adjustments needed throughout the year for meeting goals; gather and maintain all relevant donor giving history as necessary for stewardship activities; lead development team to increase annual giving through contributions, special events, and grants while creating a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization; ensures compliance with Dayton YWCA and YWCA USA policies, procedures, programs and best practices; provides strategic leadership to the Executive team to ensure goals are realized; assists corporations in achieving their philanthropic goals by being proficient at clearly articulating YWCA programs, mission and aligns them with donors' interests; works with Board members, Development Committee and other leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward appropriate donors.

Develop and maintain departmental budget alongside Finance team; serve as Department executive for the Organization; delivers high-quality, effective written and oral presentations and proposals to stakeholders and varying levels; organizes and manages the agency-wide accreditation process with internal and external stakeholders; understand Association audiences and stay attuned to nonprofit marketing trends. Assess communication effectiveness and outcomes through data analytics and goal metrics; attend events and serve as a Public representative of the Organization; supervises and provides professional development to direct reports in Marketing and Development.

Minimum of 7 years philanthropic non-profit experience, development, major gifts, and/or capital campaigns, understanding of social service and social justice organizations preferred; Minimum of 3 years leadership experience; Bachelor's degree in Business Development, Philanthropic certification or training or related field; experience with Blackbaud and/or Raiser's Edge highly preferred; 10 plus years experience in lieu of degree.Commitment to Service :

This position is in house only Monday - Friday (occasional evening and weekends may be required) and not remote at this time. YWCA Dayton operates 24/7 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts, standard operation hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm. Applicants must be local with easily accessible transportation.
