Description:
Assess needs, develop, test, and deploy computer programs utilizing specialized technical and business knowledge to enhance the use of the District student information system (SIS). Collaborate with users to define detailed requirements and system interfaces. Responsible for administration of the applications, interfaces, and servers serving the SIS.
Essential Functions:Develop and/or write new custom computer programs using various programming languages to meet internal client needs as determined through assessment of client requirements, systems knowledge and capability.Conduct analysis of a variety of existing computer programs to assess their feasibility for addressing District needs in a cost-efficient manner.Perform testing, troubleshooting and/or error trapping of new software and programs to assure that the system will perform effectively in meeting the client's and District's expectations.Design and implement processes and database structures, custom software development and deployment and troubleshooting all system processes (including applications, APIs, user permissions and data security) associated with new software releases.Maintain optimal database performance.Perform regular system maintenance activities to assure the District's systems are operating effectively and efficiently.Ensure stable performance for the application server(s) and Database environment through performance monitoring and tuning and perform capacity planning.Effectively balance the immediate needs of users with the requirement for writing/adapting new programs; maintaining high level of customer service and support for users at all computer skill levels.Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.
Job Requirements:A minimum of 3 years of experience with programming and customizing Student Information Systems, Microsoft SQL Server database administration and administration of a Student Information System.Knowledge of programming languages to include C#, .NET, PowerShell, Python and/or Ruby. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Student Information System.Patience and empathy to enable working effectively with users with little or no SIS knowledge.Knowledge of computer systems, programming languages, database design and theory.Bilingual is a plus
Education:High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Salary Schedule:Information Technology
Hiring Range:$65,456 to $72,937 dependent on experience, plus additional $9,000 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
