A Day In The Life Of Our Principal R&D Mechanical Engineer, Capital
:
Provide day-to-day leadership for a key subsystem of the capital equipment team to develop safe and effective medical devices
Collaborate with cross functional teams to propose viable technical solutions and make decisions
Plan, organize, and present project deliverables according to project scope and timeline and ensure technical contributions are delivered on time
Mentor other engineers
Build and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors, identify scopes of work, and manage inputs and outputs.
Participate in developing the budget for the specific area of responsibility
Lead the resolution of technical issues where root cause analysis requires in-depth evaluations from both theoretical and practical perspectives.
Conduct tolerance analysis to ensure design robustness
Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks that may impact the overall product design and performance
Generate and review technical documentation including design-controlled specifications, requirements, protocols, etc.
Develop and ensure compliance with departmental procedures relating to design control processes, quality systems and regulations, and good documentation practices
About You:
10+ years of experience as an individual contributor in the area of technical leadership, including at least 6 years of medical device capital equipment experience
Experienced in the product development process of medical device capital systems
Proficient in using Solidworks for design of components and creating complex assemblies and detailed drawings.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to lead self and others in the execution of technical projects
Proactive planning and consistent follow up behaviors
Proficient in specifying actuators and actuator components, and packaging into multi-DOF assemblies
