DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY: Works under the general direction of the Principal Investigator or Department Administrator, performs full scope of management responsibilities of the cardiac CT core lab / research laboratory, including fiscal/budget management, contract preparation, supervision of staff activities, inventory management, etc.   Communicate with study staff, industry partners, and other institutions.  Participates with the principal investigator in the design of experimental protocols. Interprets experimental results in conference with other researchers.  Maintain documentation of all lab procedures, SOPs.  PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises operation of the laboratory, including overseeing management of various projects and funds.Responsible for financial management of research lab. Develops budgets and produces reports. Additionally, participates in all aspects of grant writing and proposals.Coordinate preparation and submission of NIH and industry research grants.Responsible for the coordination of all regulatory and compliance activities for the lab. Implementing and maintaining quality assurance procedures, and lab SOPs.Organize weekly meetings dealing with operational aspects of projects, and discussion of experiment results in conference with other researchers. Contributes to scientific literature and may present the results at hospital and outside meetings. Trains staff in specialized lab techniques. Assist in hiring, supervision, and performance evaluation of research assistants and lab personnel.Develop and implement, together with Principal Investigator, orientation material and training for research assistants and lab staff.Coordinate activities of research studies, identifying problems and proposing solutions for barriers in study execution. Responsible for overseeing data collection and data/image transfer process. All other duties as assigned.QualificationsBS Required; MS, MPH, or PhD preferred. Prior experience with grant preparation (especially NIH) is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible research work experience, preferably in imaging core lab or similar research environment. Prior experience should include budget / operational experience, as well as preferably experience in clinical trials.SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must have excellent writing and communication skills.Excellent writing skills.Must have aptitude for technical problem solving.Ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines. Ability to effectively supervise others. Excellent organizational skills to ensure smooth functioning of lab. Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot.Must possess aptitude for budget management. High level of computer literacy.Professionalism and research integrity. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supervising staff including hiring, terminating, evaluating, and disciplining. Will orient and train new staff members lab personnel. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to be on-site when needed, but position will allow for combination of both remote and on-site work.
