The Assistant Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director of Development to develop and implement strategies for individual and group donor relationship management through the development of philanthropic partnerships. This is a full-time (2080 annual hours) exempt position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: Relationship Management (90%)

Portfolio Management and SolicitationManage relationships with an assigned portfolio of approximately 70-80 donor prospects who have demonstrated capacity to make gifts of $2,000 or more annually. Responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding each relationship according to established performance metrics, which includes total number of contacts, visits and funds raised in a fiscal year.Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:

Assist in the identification of gift prospectsQualify gift prospects through personal contacts and visitsDraw prospects into a strong relationship with Cedarville University by connecting their philanthropic interestsBrainstorm and create short-term, intermediate, and long-term solicitation plans for donor assignmentsMaintain stewardship practices to enhance giving satisfaction

Work collaboratively with University staff, faculty and leadership to effectively cultivate and steward donor relationships, applying sound strategy and humility.Represent the University at donor, community, and alumni events.MONITORING AND REPORTING (10%)

Document activity according to department standards and policiesAttend regularly scheduled Advancement and Development Team meetingsParticipate and prepare for three dynamic portfolio reviews annuallyMaintain consistent office presence between travel for the purpose of building community and facilitating effective communicationQUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree required.Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, and General Workplace StandardsA commitment to traveling to meet with and build relationships with donors.2+ years of relevant work experience in fundraising and relationship building.Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.Ability to think strategically.Commitment to the mission and values of Cedarville University and to the cultural aspirations of the Advancement Division.
