Seeking 2 General Practitioners to provide care to patients at a correctional facility in Southampton County, VA to provide general medical services including examinations and treatment to the inmate population.

Requirements:

• Active VA License
• BC/BE
• DEA certificate

Responsibilities:

• Examine, diagnose, treat, counsel & prescribe medications for patients as needed.
• Complies with medical records policies.
• Make referrals to medical or clinical specialists when necessary.
• Responsible for providing accurate prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Independently handles routine medical problems.
• Ensure guidance is received on policy or exceptional situations. Complexities:
• Applies knowledge of medical principles and practices and skills in the use of medical instruments, equipment, & procedures.
• Ability to accurately examine, diagnose, counsel, and treat a variety of patients.
• Frequently consults on matters relating to medical treatment with: patients and their families; medical, clinical, or other professional staff; and insurance companies.
