The Director of Corporate Philanthropy and Foundation Relations (“Director”) is responsible for supporting the growth of The Lundquist Institute’s private support, with a specific focus on foundations and corporations.The Director designs, implements and manages a proactive fundraising plan focused on expanding and enhancing philanthropic relationships with companies and foundations. The position serves the entire Lundquist Institute community, and is the primary liaison in developing, managing, and sustaining the Institute’s relationships with corporate and foundation entities.The Director will also work across the organization to ensure all corporate and foundation philanthropic opportunities are being properly leveraged, explored and coordinated.Due to the nature of confidential information, the position requires careful judgment and discretion. The variety of assignments associated with the position requires flexibility, efficiency, and the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines.ResponsibilitiesGrant identification, advising, and submission· Develop and execute a comprehensive grants strategy, leveraging expertise in grant writing and relationship building with foundations, corporations, and other funding entities with grant requests generally starting at $100,000.· Actively research and assess the viability of various corporate and foundation grant opportunities in alignment with the organization’s long-term strategic goals and resource needs.· Oversee the end-to-end grant lifecycle, including prospecting, application development, submission, tracking, and reporting to ensure compliance with grant requirements.· Implement and manage a comprehensive grant tracking and management system to streamline prospecting, Letter of Interest (LOI), Letter of Support (LOS), proposal, and reporting processes.· Lead the identification and pursuit of Community Project Funding (i.e. federal appropriations) opportunities to support TLI's strategic initiatives and projects.· Oversee, advise, and support relevant government-related funding proposals.· Work closely with Institute investigators on grant proposals and submissions, ensuring that efforts are properly coordinated across the Institute.· Collaborates with principal investigators and other colleagues during the proposal development process to ensure all proposals are reviewed and approved through established internal processes. This involves regular communication with the Office of Research Administration, Finance, and other designated points of contact.· Proactively manage and monitor deadlines for submitting proposals and stewardship reports for funded projects by preparing and submitting required materials well in advance and promptly responding to grantor inquiries and requests for information.Relationship building· Provide relevant updates and communication to funders during grant periods to demonstrate program impact.· Serve as point of contact for all outbound and inbound corporate and foundation queries.· Develop a collaborative grantseeking strategy with Institute colleagues to secure funding from local, regional, and national foundations for TLI's mission and priorities.· Ensure that TLI colleagues are informed about the role, procedures, and priorities of Corporate and Foundation Relations as a philanthropic resource to the entire Institute.· Implement and maintain streamlined procedures, systems, and strategies to maximize support for researchers and Administration colleagues across TLI.Strategic outreach and events· Lead external communications efforts with corporations and foundations, creating consistent and personalized communication plans.· In collaboration with Advancement staff, build anchor events that raise visibility among corporate and foundation funders.· Provide insights and consult to investigators in presentations and communications with corporate and foundation funders.Procedures and data· Document all corporate and foundation-related communications. Input contact reports into the CRM (currently Salesforce) as appropriate.· Work with Director of Advancement Services to ensure data remains current and relevant.· Work with Director, Stewardship and Donor Relations to ensure that protocols are followed in all aspects of the donor process, including gift processing and acknowledgment, prospecting, soliciting, and stewarding.· Ensure that all information remains protected and advises on best practices related to data privacy for corporations and foundations.Beyond these core responsibilities, the Director may take on other projects as necessary to support the organization and meet strategic objectives.Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or 5 years of related experience (preferably in an academic, scientific, or healthcare setting).· Demonstrated record of success within a development environment.· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.· Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines effectively.· Ability to share specific examples of success and references.· Track record of success in producing a high volume of complex proposals and various writing projects.Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000__
