Description
The candidate will have proven origination, M&A, tax equity, and project finance execution experience, excellent analytical skills, and a good knowledge of the renewable energy market in the US. Our Head of Origination & Execution (O&E) is expected to lead by example while managing a small team of less experienced O&E colleagues. You will manage workload for the team while maintaining flexibility to respond to the demands of a business that inevitably has ebbs and flows, as well as ensuring consistency in all financial analysis of new business opportunities.
The candidate should take direct origination and execution responsibility but also encourage the team to operate with a degree of autonomy. You will also be expected to take a holistic view of projects and to ensure that projects proceed to the base case.
The successful candidate will be based in Austin, Texas on a hybrid basis. A candidate who is a team builder and one who adopts a consensual approach to management is preferred to get the best out of a skilled team.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead a team of origination and execution staff to generate new investment opportunities for Cubico in USAOriginate new deals and develop new relationships that lead to bilateral dealsExecute approved deals flawlessly to deliver business caseRaise TE and PFFocus on creating value by delivering value accretive opportunitiesManage sale down of assetsPrepare and defend deals in IC and support in Board meetingsAllocate deal flow efficiently to respond to the changing demands of the businessLiaise with the global head of origination and development to ensure a proper resourcing of the origination and execution activity in USAEnsure proper evaluation of new opportunitiesLiaise with functional heads and teamsGenerate new investment opportunities directlyEnsure proper reporting of pipeline and evaluation of opportunities to the global head of origination and developmentHire and train new employeesParticipate in US ExCom providing a holistic view of the businessKey Stakeholders:

Substantial experience in renewable energy deal origination and execution in the USA (ideally both greenfield and brownfield assets), including financial analysis, tax equity and project financingExperience and ability to lead and develop a teamGood understanding of the investment strategy and appetite of CubicoGood understanding of key drivers of an investment decision and how to optimise returnGood knowledge of the risks and pitfalls of projects at different stages in the lifecycle, such as development, construction and operational, and a rounded view of the various issues that can impact on a project
