For more information, please visit www.xmscapital.com .About the PositionXAI is seeking to add an investment fund Product Development professional to their team to contribute to the overall success of the firm. XAI primarily builds products with alternative investment strategies across a range of alternative asset classes. XAI focuses on the development of registered closed-end funds (“CEF”) including interval funds, tender offer funds and listed CEFs. The role involves the development of proprietary XAI products and also the development of new products for consulting clients. In this position, the professional will lead the development of new investment funds, create enhancements and features to existing funds, and work with various individuals representing portfolio management, operations, legal and compliance, and sales to execute the firm’s growth strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience and strong knowledge on the following: (i) investment market demand and requirements for successful products; (ii) the competitive fund manager landscape; (iii) investment management revenue models and opportunities; and (iv) investor demand profiles within wirehouse, registered investment adviser (RIA), and independent broker dealer (IBD) distribution channels. This profession will also serve as a subject matter expert both internally and externally, and will continuously find ways to work cross-functionally with the various firm stakeholders and support teams.The Product Development professional will be responsible for the new product development, pipeline development, process improvement and marketing for XAI’s registered investment funds.Major ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage the product development process for new registered closed-end funds including both traditional and alternative investment strategies.Develop proposals for new investment products as well as for enhancements, extension and rationalization of existing products.Seek out and develop relationships with investment management firms, focusing on alternative investments and strategies suited to high net worth and retail investors.Support consulting clients with new product feasibility studies and the full product development process.Evaluate and seek fund complex expansion opportunities, whether via acquisition, mergers, or new proprietary funds.Provide product and marketing support for sales and distribution team. Develop content to support marketing and sales.Answer product inquiries, assist in crafting and creating investment product messaging and positioning using deep analytical and competitive intelligence.Research and analyze all aspects of competitor products, peer performance and competitive industry landscape, and then use that intelligence to support messaging.Proactively assess industry innovations and existing product positioning opportunities based on industry trends, current market environment and competitive advantages to meet customer needs. Communicate innovations and trends internally to support sales and marketing.Perform profitability and revenue analysis on new or proposed products.Act as a subject matter expert for new business initiatives, promote products, and maximize distribution opportunities for new and existing products.Keep informed of market pricing and trends, review and respond to applicable regulatory changes in order to make strategic changes to XAI’s products.Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum 4-6 years product development/management experience within asset management and experience working to develop SEC registered funds.Highly effective communicator with excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to articulate complex investment topics.Desire to learn more about the fast-growing interval fund marketplace for private market assets.Knowledge of advisor channels, primarily RIAs and Broker/Dealers; experience working with the financial advisor community and/or managed account platforms.Strong problem solving and analytical skills including demonstrated experience with research, data gathering and ability to think strategically.Experience working with external sub-advisers to a registered fund a plus.Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.Open to new experiences and stretch assignments that require a trailblazer to explore a new idea or concept with a positive attitude.Proactive and attentive to detail.Ability to multitask and manage professional relationships in a fast-paced environment.Entrepreneurial; able to manage other tasks as assigned outside the scope of main job description.Positive, can-do attitude focused on completing projects on a timely basis.
