Your Job Purpose:
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The SANE exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.
Your Job Requirements:
• Associates degree in Nursing, BSN preferred • Ability to work independently, effective time management, problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to react calmly, objectively, and effectively in emergency situations, maintain a high standard of ethical behavior and personal expertise in the performance of your work. • Valid and Current Texas RN license. • Current SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) certification from the Texas Attorney General office. • Current TNCC
Your Responsibilities:
• Performs a complete medical-forensic examination with the support of photographic evidence. • Maintain chain of custody and confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA guidelines. • Provide factual testimony in court. • Works collaboratively with the Emergency Dept STAFFnd the Turning point Rape Crisis Center to meet the acute needs of the patient • Function as a forensic consultant for child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, and other victims of violence. • Ability to be on call for at least 60 hours per month, to include days, weekends and holidays and work irregular hours due to the nature of the program
