Job Description
Caseworker II will provide ongoing on site that are culturally competent in the pursuit of supporting asylum seekers to resettle without needing to rely on City's provided housing. A Caseworker II is a professional who plays a crucial role in social services and human welfare. They work with individuals and families facing various challenges, such as economic hardship, mental health issues, or child welfare concerns.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Caseworker II: $28.81/hour.
Pay commensurate with experience.
Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Caseworker II Responsibilities Include:Primary focus resolving barriers to movement with short term social support servicesProvide casework supportive services to assist clients resettle within communities without relying on City's provided housing.Complete culturally sensitive client needs assessments.Complete culturally sensitive individualized exit service plans.Maintain client contact with asylum seekers in the care of H+H at designated HERRC facility.Provide support with travel coordination and arrangements.Contact family, relatives, or others to coordinate and remove barriers towards travel.Provide resettlement services outside of the city's supportive housing.Complete referrals to community-based programs and organizationsCompletes case notes, data, and information in the NY Health + Hospitals case management system.Coordination with interpretation and translation servicesComplete referrals to immigration legal servicesComplete other tasks as necessary to facilitate delivery of necessary services to clients.Performs other job-related duties as assignedCaseworker II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Bachelor's degree required , and relevant social services experience with people who are vulnerable and have experienced trauma.Three (3) years of general social service experience with two (2) years experience supporting Refugee/Asylum/Migrant populations experienceSpanish/English bilingual fluency required.Additional languages preferred include are French, Haitian Creole, Wolof, Pular, Fulah and other western African dialectsMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to learn quickly and problem-solve.Must have strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must have experience resolving barriers to movement with short term social support servicesMust possess basic understanding of immigration laws and procedures.Experience conducting assessments.Experience creating service plansMust be organized as well as, have excellent verbal, written and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families, collaborating agencies, and community professionals.Strong customer service backgroundAble to effectively manage significant documentation.A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and work independently.Able to prioritize and be accountable for timeliness to complete projects in a timely manner.Possess sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Social Worker, Case Manager, or Family Support Advocate.Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Social Services Specialist II, Human Services Case Manager, or Client Advocate II.Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
