Location Requirement: This position is required to live in or relocate to either the Oregon or Washington area to be considered.
Essential Functions:
Completes on-site loss control surveys of policyholders' operations and assesses the hazard potentialPrepares reports and opinions that focus on areas where EMC has insured exposures such as property, commercial auto, liability, and workers' compensationProvides detailed explanation of operations and hazards associated with insured coveragesDevelops recommendations for policyholders to control hazards and to prevent or reduce exposure to insured lossesHolds in-person consultations with policyholders after each survey to discuss the organizations' operations, claims trends, and recommendations for improvementCommunicates loss control services available to policyholders and agentsEducation & Experience:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection or related field or equivalent relevant experienceTwo years of relevant loss control or safety experience including successful completion of EMC Risk Improvement training or equivalentRelated advanced degree or designation preferred, such as certified safety professional, CPCU or relevant niche market certificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong ability to understand and evaluate riskStrong knowledge of industrial, construction, fire and commercial automotive safetyGood understanding of various nationally recognized standards and codes including OSHA, DOT and NFPAStrong ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposuresKnowledge of relevant niche markets preferredAbility to maintain confidential informationGood computer skills, including Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work independently and prioritizeStrong problem-solving skillsExcellent customer relation skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skillsTravel required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling
