Role ResponsibilitiesSubject Matter Expert Support:
Assist in the management of property, casualty, and marine treaties, providing expertise and guidance to internal teams.Team Collaboration:
Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments, reinsurance brokers, and external partners, fostering effective communication and teamwork.Regulatory Compliance:
Partner with the Legal department to ensure all reporting requirements to the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) are met accurately and promptly.Market Security Management:
Oversee the security compliance between our company and key reinsurance partners, ensuring adherence to NY DFS regulations and internal standards.Treaty Negotiation Coordination:
Facilitate the preparation and timely delivery of materials required for treaty negotiations, including analyses of losses, premiums, and operational overviews.Contract Review and Update:
Evaluate the wording of assumed business contracts, providing technical analysis and working with the Legal department to update contracts and clauses as necessary.Reinsurance Reporting:
Manage all reinsurance reporting requirements, including risk profiles and credit risk management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Data Accuracy:
Ensure accurate entry of reinsurance terms into the reinsurance system and timely delivery of necessary documentation to external parties.Financial Oversight:
Act as an expert in the complex accounting of reinsurance balances, ensuring proper booking, payment, and cash flow management.Market Analysis:
Develop and present financial analysis reports to support active reinsurance placements based on internal risk guidance.Reinsurer Liaison:
Address queries from reinsurers, ensuring accurate data reporting and timely payment of premiums and claims.Process Improvement:
Oversee and document processes, create guidelines for domestic and international treaties, and support audit compliance and SOX controls.Cross-Functional Support:
Provide support to underwriters and claims teams, collaborating with various internal and external business partners, including Accounting, Underwriting, IT, Reinsurers, and Brokers.Special Projects:
Participate in special projects and multi-departmental teams as required.Ad-Hoc Analysis:
Perform ad-hoc analysis to support ongoing business needs.Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Actuarial Studies, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.Experience:
A minimum of 8 years of related experience in reinsurance.Skills:
Strong negotiation, organizational, and time management skills.Certifications:
CPCU or related reinsurance education (e.g., IIA Associate Degree in Reinsurance) is advantageous.
