Job DescriptionOur Client is currently seeking a
Registered Nurse
for their Operating Room division.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:
Patient Care: Pre-Operative:•Check surgeon's preference card for the case•Assist scrub nurse with gathering supplies•Set up OR: Position bed, Bair Hugger, calf compression device, liposuction machines, hook up suction, bovie plug, all necessary power cords in outlets, test equipment to be used•Check patient chart for surgical and informed consents, pre-op orders and clearance•Perform verification with OR staff for correct patient, procedure, site/laterality•Confirm that surgeon has signed all paperwork•Draw up all medications and/or tumescent for case•Receive report from admitting nurse Intra-Operative:•Assist patient to OR table and apply safety strap•Assist Anesthesiologist with induction•Insert foley if requested •Assist with positioning of patient•Scrub/prep patient if needed•Connect suction tubing/cautery/liposuction tubing and cords•Perform counts with scrub nurse•Anticipate needs of surgical team•Maintain operative nursing records and times•Receive and package patient specimens. Include patients name, site, date and MD on each container Closing Phase/Post- Operative•Prepare/gather dressings/garments•Perform counts with scrub nurse•Assist with patient transfer to recovery room and give report to recovery room nurse•Assure completion of OR records•Log specimens in specimen log book (nursing office, 4th floor)•Follows protocol for documentation of specimen in Nextech•Log patients in OR case log book (in office, 3rd floor)•Assure clean up of OR room- unplug equipment, place necessary items in red bags, put away unused items, assist orderly as needed•Review next day's schedule and assist scrub nurse with picking supplies•Prepare OR bed for next day's case •Assures that OR suite is adequately stocked at all times
Requirements
Educational Requirements:•Current NYS RN licensure required•Bachelor's degree preferred•BLS certification required•Training in plastic surgery nursing preferred Job Requirements:•NYS RN License•EXPERIENCE working in a PLASTIC SURGICAL office
Qualifications and Experience:•Minimum one year of work experience in the OR setting•Understanding of ASPS, and ASPSN standards; OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practice, quality assurance required.•Familiarity with cosmetic procedures and reconstructive surgery preferred
