Assist Physician with assessment and care of patients. Serve as Triage Nurse for The Heart Center.Minimum Job QualificationsLicensure or other certifications: Professional Nurse with Current State License. Current ACLS and BLS.Educational Requirements: Associates Degree.Minimum Experience: Applicants to this position must have a minimum of three years' recent experience in the specialty of cardiology.Other:Preferred Job QualificationsPreferred Licensure or other certifications:Preferred Educational Requirements: Preferred Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years in cardiology.Other:Job Specific And Unique Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesDemonstrates knowledge appropriate to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations specific to unit of practiceMeets all certification requirements defined by unit (i.e. BLS, ACLS, PALS) Demonstrates critical thinking skillsDemonstrates sound clinical skills and judgmentBasic computer skills necessary to operate computer systems used on unitEssential Tasks And ResponsibilitiesAssist with office visit (initial and follow-up visits), records weight, vital signs, bilateral BP measurements, and medications. Observes symptoms and conditions for acutely ill patient that may need emergency or immediate care and alerts PA and/or Physician. Assist with gathering of medical records and assure confidentiality of records. Assess need and assist with refills of medications. Assist with preparation of office visit (gown, etc.). Perform electrocardiograms.Assess patients calling into the Heart Center or presenting as "walk-ins" and triage accordingly. Based on symptoms, direct them to schedule follow-up appointments or problem visits, proceed to the emergency department, or to activate EMS respective to their needs.Gather and record accurate data into EPIC system. Enter medications, problem list and medical history in appropriate area of chart. Abstract medical information into EMR. Create clinical resume when appropriate. Update and verify information in electronic medical record. Perform, verify and complete orders. Check in-basket and complete test results follow up.Follow out Physician orders. Educate patient and fill out consent forms for procedures as required. Education and application of event monitors. Education and application of Holter monitor. Perform and record ABI’s. Performs venipuncture, order appropriate lab work. Assist with scheduling of tests/procedures. Obtain consents for test/procedures. Ensure patients are called with test results in a timely manner. Prepare patients EMR prior to Physician encounter with patient. Read last office notes to assure all previous Physician orders have been completed.Assist Lab Clinic. Perform venipuncture. Order appropriate lab work. Prepare blood samples. Retrieve lab results. Fill out appropriate lab flow sheet for physician review. Follow through with physician orders of results.Resource for MAs, CMAs and LPNs. Based on knowledge base of education, all RNs are utilized as resources for clinical information.Assist with stocking and maintenance of drug samples.
