The BL Secure Connected Edge (SCE) Edge Enablement team is looking for a candidate to lead a global team for development and release of the Linux Kernel for the Microprocessor SoC families with concentration on the i.MX Multimedia family of processors. The candidate will provide technical leadership and direction to multiple sites across NXP responsible for the Linux Kernel support of the SoC core architecture and supporting subsystems related to system control, IPC, memory management, clock management, power management, and virtualization. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to architect and design new SoC generations, and influence SoC and System Architecture to ensure peak operational performance and architecture alignment with the Linux Kernel.Job Summary:Work closely with global Linux Kernel and BSP team to execute yearly Linux LTS cadence across supported processors
Work closely with global NPI teams to influence SoC architecture for system control and management, power control and management, and virtualization
Lead pre-silicon design architecture in support of production software development
Assess and negotiate IC development tradeoffs with SoC Architects and SoC Design for NPI projects
Support PE/TE and cross-functional teams during product creation and product life cycle
Participate and manage key internal and external customer issues
Key Challenges:Growing and establishing a globally resilient team capable of 24/7 engineering capabilities
Influencing adoption of upstream driver architectures for key foundational capabilities
Negotiation of emulation build priorities to accelerate software development pre-silicon
Cross functional aspects:SoC Architect for core selection architecture and integration
SW Architecture for key multi-master use-case performance
SW Validation and SW Benchmarking leads for performance assessment and/or resolution
PE/TE for Product creation and Quality returns
Job Qualifications:BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other similar discipline with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
Proficient understanding of ARMv7-A and ARMv8-A core architectures
Proficient in SoC SMP and AMP architectures including NOC architecture and master arbitration
Proficient in Linux Kernel architecture and core driver systems
Proficient in low-level debugging and analysis
Experience in pre-silicon emulation and/or simulation for production SW development
