Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Participates in a fast-paced Agile development environmentAssists in designing, modifying, and developing a server application in C++ and Python while working with team members developing a client application in JavaUpdates and troubleshoots build scripts to ensure the software and software environment is configured correctlyPerforms complex programming assignments in collaboration with both junior and senior engineersDevelops code to integrate new data sources into existing and new displaysMakes recommendations for new functionality or enhancements to existing functionalityParticipates in project meetings to update stakeholders on statusParticipates in planning meetings to project timelines of software development and integration tasksProvides support during system testing to troubleshoot and resolve issuesGains familiarity with the system in order to troubleshoot hardware issues as well as software issuesProvides input for application and system documentationInteract with other team members through code reviews, design discussions, and UI design activitiesLeverages experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsParticipates in full software lifecycle support to include requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing as well as integration and testing
Minimum Skills & Requirements
BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or similar disciplinesExperience in Java software development in Windows and Linux environmentsExperience developing C++ object-oriented software in Linux environmentsDemonstrable OO design skills and use of design patternsExperience installing and configuring applications in a virtual machine or containerized environmentExperience troubleshooting issues in Windows and Linux environmentsExperience working with scripting languagesFamiliar with computer networkingExperience developing engaging and intuitive user interfacesDemonstrable OO design skills and use of design patternsExperience installing and configuring systems and frameworksAbility to work in a team environment and follow software engineering practices

Active Security ClearanceFamiliar with the use of middleware in distributed applications and/or disconnected environmentsStrong analytical skillsExperience developing engaging and intuitive user interfacesExperience developing client-server implementationsExperience with Gradle, Spring, Swing, and JavaFXExperience with the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Bitbucket) and/or similar GIT toolsExperience with CORBA and/or similar service-oriented architectures (SOA)Experience with Google protobufsExperience with digital signal processing with GnuRadio or similar toolsExperience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databasesExperience working with DockerExperience with system administration in Windows and Linux environmentsExperience scripting or automated tasks using Python
