This person will be responsible for a group of Software Engineers and/or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in the design, development, test automation, deployment, and maintenance of business application software. Software Engineering Managers work together with their peers to support high-performing software engineering teams, by building high-engagement, fostering skill-development, and demonstrating excellence in execution with the engineers across multiple squads. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of strong leadership while balancing multiple simultaneous workstreams, the ability to correctly interpret and communicate about data, an authentic character that inspires confidence in others, and will have a passion for leading technologies. The person in this role will be able to solve challenges related to software development across diverse technology stacks, such as Java/Spring and Springboot, Node.js, Vue.js, Angular, Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, Salesforce (Apex and Lightning), and Workday.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and mentor software engineers and SDETs as they efficiently and effectively design, build, test and deploy enterprise softwareDevelop accountability for both individuals and teams, gathering and interpreting performance metrics and tracking deliverablesCollaborate effectively with other leaders to develop strategies that improve software development processes and product qualityImplement and establish software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality softwareManage, supervise, and determine appropriate resource allocation to ensure commitments are metStrategic planning to accomplish technical as well as business goalsLead by example in striving for a positive impact to customers and business partnersEnsure team is current on technical capabilities and supporting toolsProvide direct technical leadership to your assigned team, which includes establishing and tracking goals and objectives, team assignment, training, and facilitating the performance review processProvide and facilitate clear and concise communication with the team, peers, and managers including status reporting, timely raising critical issues, and giving constructive feedback
Qualifications
Strong leadership skills including coaching, development, team building, conflict resolution, collaboration, and leading through changeStrong technical background in software engineering and architectureKnowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing and operationsExperience with service-oriented and event-driven system architecturesProficiency in one or more programming languages – JavaScript is a plusStrong working knowledge of integration technologies and tools (RESTful web services)Familiarity with common software design patternsExperience leading out on quality processes and metricsExperience with Agile software development methodologyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-driven with a sense of urgencyExperience with full-stack application development is a plusExperience in leading mobile app development is a plusExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices is a plus
Education & Years Of Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline required (or equivalent work experience)5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or SDET2+ years of experience managing software engineers, including coaching, measuring job performance, and developing the talents of team membersAble to work independently on assigned tasks and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision makingExcellent communications skills, both verbal and written, including good technical writing and interpersonal skillsExcellent ability to mentor others
We believe in fair compensation for all of our people, which is why our pay structure takes into account the cost of labor across U.S. geographic markets. For this position, we offer a pay range of $114,300 -- $276,900 annually, with pay varying depending on work location and job-related factors such as knowledge, position level and experience. During the hiring process, your recruiter can provide more information about the specific salary range for the job location.
CHG Healthcare offers starting salaries for sales positions in the form of total target compensation (TTC = base + commission + bonus), which includes base pay, commission, and bonuses. Sales positions receive short-term incentives through commission plans and bonuses. On the other hand, non-sales positions have starting salaries that consist of a base salary and short-term incentives through various bonus plans, which are paid out monthly, quarterly, or annually.
