A Brief OverviewResponsible for all medication dispensing and preparation functions according to Pharmacy policy and procedure with additional responsibility for ADM (Automated Dispensing Machine) restocking.
What you will do
Displays knowledge of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, strengths, concentrations, etc
Accurate check and/or fill of medication orders either dispensed via automation or requiring manual pick from automated storage units
Displays compliance and competence regarding standard procedures for preparing sterile products including departmental policies, aseptic technique, USP 797, documentation, safety precautions, etc
Displays competence regarding operation of medication management automation and equipment, such as, but not limited to, automated dispensing cabinets, dispensing robot, storage carousel, MIC chambers
Handles medications in a safe manner to ensure proper storage conditions, avoidance of dispensing errors, tracking of delivery via closed loop system and reports safety or procedural concerns when necessary
Familiar with and utilization of drug references to obtain necessary drug specific information pertaining to dispensing, preparation, storage, etc of medications
Displays competence regarding mathematical calculations required for accurate dispensing of pharmaceutical preparations for all medication administration routes
Displays competence regarding additional responsibilities as trained and assigned such as departmental areas inspections, chemo preparation, medication packaging and robot stocking, scheduling, etc
Covers alternate shifts based on need for Benefit Time coverage or Department need
Performs other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications
High School Or equivalent experience Required
Experience Qualifications
less than 1 year Must have recent hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician Required and
Long-term care, compounding or retail Pharmacy Technician Required and
Inventory management and automation experience Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Detail oriented and ability to work in a consistent and methodical manner (High proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech NJ Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire Required and
PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech Board Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Upon Hire Required
