Activities include Analyzing/modifying existing designs, leading new hardware development, mechanical and software components for Flight Data Recorders and other Avionics Components/Systems. This position will be required to achieve an understanding of the overall Flight Data Recorder System including how to make system trade-offs for optimal design, requirements decomposition, derivation, and flow-down.Job Responsibilities

Analyze System Requirements as part of Safety and Functional Assessments/AuditsControl requirements flow down from the system level to component level, managing allocation, derivation, and decomposition activitiesManage system specifications and requirements baseline, and develop designs to best support themDesign, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems, or subsystemsDrive technical problem resolution and completion of activity on time and budget.Analyze designs to troubleshoot/resolve performance issues, and to evaluate new business opportunitiesSpecify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and servicesSupport program design to cost and design for manufacture requirementsDevelop prototypes to retire key development or production risksCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customerInteract with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progressOwnership of the overall Flight Data Recorder ArchitectureAdditional Details of Responsibilities

Technical leadership for engineering on Flight Data Recorder and other Avionics system designsAct as internal and customer subject matter expert (SME) for assigned system(s)Technical point of contact and lead, in preparation of complex small and large proposals and new business pursuitsProvide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnelQualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experienceMastery of technologies and domain knowledgeExpected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplinesMust have relevant Commercial Avionics Design and Development in a Structured Engineering Environment driven by DAL-A requirements per DO-254 and DO-178#NEL #LI-AS1Taking care of our people is a top priority at Leonardo DRS.
