General Statement of Duties

The Marketing and Communications manager is responsible for creating and curating meaningful and impactful content that aligns with the museum's mission. This includes collaborating with all departments to ensure that marketing and communications efforts are seamlessly integrated with current museum programming and events. As a member of the Marketing & Communications team, the Manager drives earned and contributed income through strategic communications and marketing campaigns. This position recognizes the capacity to achieve greater results by integrating skilled volunteers and leveraging their diverse knowledge and abilities. This position reports to the Marketing & Communications Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.Outstanding copywriting and editing skills.Proven experience in content creationProficiency in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.Experience with email marketing platforms and tools. Constant Contact, MailChimp, or WordFly preferred.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.Strong attention to detail, excellent time management skillsRequirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Function 1: Copywriting

Draft copy for publications, including but not limited to member newsletter, website, news releases, blogs, email marketing automations, brochures, profile sheets, flyers and programs.

Maintain the Museum's written style guide.

Essential Function 2: Email Communications

Oversee the Museum's email communications program, ensuring consistent quality, formatting, tone, and voice. Write and design emails, route, test, and deploy.Manage institutional email calendar and timelines for all email communications (newsletters, invitations, e-blasts, etc.) ensuring campaigns are created and deployed on schedule.Essential Function 3: Social MediaManage the Museum's social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.Keep abreast of the latest social media best practices.Develop weekly editorial calendar and coordinate with staff subject matter experts to develop content.Essential Function 4: Media Relations

Assist with media relations and events, including solicitation of feature stories.Serve as primary point of contact for press inquiries.Draft press releases and secure photos/artwork to accompany content.Maintain the Museum's Electronic Press Kit.Distribute publicity materials.Essential Function 5: Advertising & Promotional CampaignsWork with Marketing & Communications Director to plan and prepare advertising and promotional campaigns to increase Museum earned and contributed revenue.Essential Function 5: Advertising & Promotional Campaigns
