Senior Cyber Security Engineer

KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer in Oxnard, California.
This person will be reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure and Security. The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of advanced security measures to protect the compan's digital infrastructure and assets.
This role is critical in maintaining the cybersecurity and integrity of the digital infrastructure. The Senior Security Engineer will play a key role in shaping the city's cybersecurity strategy and protecting the community's data from evolving threats. A deep understanding of current and potential cybersecurity threats is required including the ability to develop robust security solutions and drive security initiatives across the organization.
Essential Functions:
Security Architecture and Design: Develop and implement security architecture for new and existing systems, ensuring they meet the highest security standards and best practices.
Incidence Response: Lead the response to all security incidents including detection, containment, eradication and recovery.
Vulnerability Management: Work with the City SOC to conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
Threat Analysis and Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of security systems and networks to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
Policy Documentation and Development: Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures embracing city standards and best practices
Security Audits and Compliance: Perform security audits and ensure local government best practices and standards including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, NIST and ISO 2007
Security Awareness Training: Participate in developing and delivering security awareness training programs.
Collaboration: Work closely with IT and City of Oxnard units to integrate 'best of breed' security into all aspects of the organization's operations.
Job Requirements
EDUCATION:A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:Five years of experience in cyber security with a proven track record of managing complex security projects, including complex network systems and design.
An example of this experience includes:
Extensive experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, and endpoint protectionProven technical experience with security incident response, threat intelligence and detection, and vulnerability management.Hands on experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., Splunk, Nessus, CrowdStrike, EDR)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing
HIGHLY DESIRABLE:CISSP, CISM or similar.Experienced in Cyber Security in a city/municipal environment
