Description
The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the Babcock & Wilcox Corporate Accounting team, responsible for leading significant areas of the balance sheet for the monthly and quarterly close process. The Senior Accountant will also be a key contributor to the quarterly and annual SEC filings, oversee the annual statutory reporting for certain standalone entities, perform technical accounting research, and perform other ad hoc requests and analysis as needed. The position has significant interaction with the Corporate Accounting & Consolidation, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal teams. This role is highly visible to senior leadership, including the Corporate Controller and Treasurer. Note this is a hybrid role with the expectation that the Senior Accountant will be in the Akron office.
• Participate in all monthly and quarterly close functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and providing supporting schedules related to debt, equity, intangible assets and other miscellaneous areas. This includes preparation of all related footnotes and cash flow support.
• Compile the annual reports of two standalone entities, and serve as the primary point of contact for the external audit of these entities.
• Work with external auditors and internal contacts to ensure the accuracy and timely completion of SOX documentation, risk matrices and test plans for related cycles
• Complete, document and communicate ad hoc projects and analyses from internal customers (including Senior and Executive Management).
Qualifications
• 4 - 6 years relevant experience in a large publicly traded company or large public accounting firm
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• CPA
• Strong attention to detail & data accuracy, while understanding the "big picture"
• Outstanding organization, process and time management skills, including ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and apply technical accounting literature
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience with Workiva Wdesk
Previous experience with Hyperion Financial Management ("HFM") and Oracle
