Job DescriptionJob Overview: This position can independently decontaminates, cleans, prepares, retrieves, and sterilizes surgical items and equipment. This position also stores and issues supplies in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. This position must have complete knowledge to use specific mechanical equipment, such as, sonic cleaners, washer sterilizers, EtO, Sterrad, Steris, and other specialized equipment; must also have extensive knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and adhere to guidelines. This position also mentors/orients new staff and acts as a resource to Sterile Supply Technician I. Job Requirements: High School Degree or GED Certification in Central Service/Sterile Supply Able to read, write, speak English and perform simple math operations Ability to provide leadership and to oversee the work of technicians Operate hazardous equipment Knowledge of microbiology, infection control, Computerized record keeping 1-2 years experience in a related field Job Responsibilities: Uses and mentors new team members in proper sterilization method for items being processed, completes sterilization records according to policy and process proper biologicals -according to policy- support sterilization method used. Trains new team members in inventory management: Performs proper storage of supplies. Checks items for outdates. Ensures proper rotation of stock. Put instrument trays, sets, and peel packs in their proper location. Maintain proper storage according to standards... Trains new team members how to inspect, assemble, wrap, and properly label instrument sets, trays, and other items for processing according to policy. Assemble strays and sets according to information provided. Trains new team members how to inspect all scopes, cords, and power sets for proper functioning, making sure cords, adapters, etc. are correct for scopes and power equipment are properly functional. Tains new team members how to breakdown and decontamination of instruments sets and case carts according to set procedure standards and information provided.
