Job SummaryThe Aquatics Programmer position is open at the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services. In this position, the incumbent is responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of services, managing program operations, and monitoring compliance with program requirements. Recruit participants through bulletin board flyers, press releases, web marketing, and other marketing techniques; develop aquatics programming.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Through the process of development, aquatics programs are carefully crafted and tailored to provide individuals with opportunities to participate in a wide range of water-related activities, promoting both employment and physical well-being.Provides aquatic staff training and interviews.Ensures that lifeguard certifications are maintained.Maintains a safe pool environment for customers.Work effectively with outside agencies and organizations to promote the program and its goals in the community.Coordinates aquatic programs and activities, including open swim, aquatics instruction, and aquatics fitness.The performance of additional essential job functions, which are specific to the position and department assignment, may be required.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Recreation or Leisure Services or a related field and one (1) year of experience in aquatics programming and pool facility management working with the public and includes prior supervisory experience and six (6) months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:WSI,

AFO (NRPA), or CPE (NSPF), WSIT, LGIT, CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, Professional CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, Babysitter Training Instructor, AngelFish Instructor, NRPA Aquatics Management, NRPA Splash Pad, CPRP, American Red Cross Lifeguard Management

Job Contingencies and Special RequirementsPre-employment credit, CPS background check, and DMV background check are all requirements. Driver's license must be valid and driving record must be good (driver's records may be reviewed annually).

Before employment, hold or obtain the required Pool Operator license, Lifeguard certification, and First Aid/CPR-PR certification. Lifeguard instructor certification within 90 days of hiring. Certification in AED and Supplemental Oxygen within 90 days of hiring.
