About The Role
Valo is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our efforts for our computational platform for drug discovery. You will manage a cross-functional team of data and software engineers, enhancing our state-of-the-art computational chemistry system. Your work will support both our external partnership and internal drug programs. In addition, you will be working closely with our Machine Learning, Data Science, and Medicinal Chemistry teams to accelerate the process of discovering new drug candidates.
What You’ll Do…
Manage, mentor, and grow an engineering team of 4-6 between our San Francisco and Boston offices.Lead the evolution of Valo’s data science platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable and meets the high-performance demands of our data scientists, all while upholding data governance standards.Drive cross-functional collaboration across our data science, machine learning, lab informatics, and medicinal chemistry teams to advance our computational infrastructure for our drug discovery and development mission.Foster processes and technology to boost operational scalability, enabling our teams to rapidly expand capacity without expanding headcount.
What You Bring...
10+ years of experience in software engineering and leadership4+ years of management experience managing cross-functional teams.Experience in creating an effective and inclusive team culture.Experience building data science platforms: data and feature engineering pipelines, model life-cycle support, data governance.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence business and technical teamsA strong understanding of AWS technologies for Cloud native applications and servicesB.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience
