Director of Analytics & Data EngineeringChicago, IL – Loop (WFH 2 days/week)

This role will have 2 managers reporting to it, one focused on BI and the other focused on data engineering/advanced analytics (Client). Each of those managers has 2-4 engineers reporting to them.

You will be working closely with the VP overseeing this area of the business to formulate a data strategy, inclusive of analytics, and develop a roadmap to execute on data technology initiatives that meet business goals. You'll be interfacing with business executives to influence decisions on budgets and how data plays a role in business decisions.

We are a Microsoft shop, using Azure and Power BI, but otherwise it's a pretty greenfield environment, as we are just starting to build out a new data platform to power better business insights. We are looking for individuals passionate about data and deriving business insights from data to lead the data teams.

Essential Functions

Partner with the VP of Revenue to establish, manage, and deliver the enterprise Data and Analytics strategy and measure value.Initiate and convert enterprise business problems into analytics solutions in order to create actionable insights for the business. Work with stakeholders as a thought leader to align solutions with business strategies. Direct the research and development of complex business requirements and support translation of those requirements to functional designs.Effectively develop and manage business intelligence, engineering, and analytics talent to build relevant capabilities within the team and consistently deliver results. Establish staffing/resource plans to meet long-range business needs.Lead the development and execution of a roadmap for existing and future enterprise data assets as well as traditional data warehouse environments tied to business strategic objectives and capabilities.Execute enterprise data governance to drive accurate master data.Champion a data-driven culture and lead change management activities.Guide purchasing decisions to understand, monitor, and track existing and new data sets leveraging cloud technologies and services.Work with IT to continuously improve master data models, data lakes, and identify opportunities to utilize cross-divisional data.

Skills we're seeking

8+ years of experience within the data realm – ideally a combination of data engineering, BI, and analytics/Client.At least 2 years of experience in a manager or director role managing data teams.Experience in a cloud-based data environment, ideally Azure.Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and big data architecture including technical architectures, infrastructure components, large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines, automation, database optimization, and reporting/analytic tools and environments; prior experience in delivering large data management initiatives.
