PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent preferredValid Texas Driver's License, a good driving record, and proof of insurance on vehicle used to travel to districtCandidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background checkSpecial Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenanceAbility to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipmentAbility to properly handle cleaning suppliesAbility to carry out directives from supervisorMust be able to understand instructions and communicate in basic EnglishAbility to read and understand instructions regarding cleaning procedures, operating/maintenance instructions, safety rules and proceduresMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Keep the building clean, sanitary and comfortable during duty hoursReport to various campus locations on as needed basisSet up tables and equipment for meetings or assemblies as requiredWhen assigned to a campus, report to the Lead Custodian for instructions for the dayMaintain appearance of location, including trash pick-upGuard against fire and accident hazards by keeping all fire-fighting equipment in serviceable conditionReduce operation and maintenance cost of custodial program to the minimum without reducing efficiencyImprove the appearance of buildings by keeping them clean and orderlyFollow procedures for locking, checking and safe guarding facilitiesMow and detail grounds around school campus as instructedSweep grass cuttings, trimmings, and pick up trash and place in school dumpsterFollow procedures for locking, checking and safe guarding facilitiesHelp prevent property loss that may be caused by abuse, freezing, neglect or careless usageKeep floors clean, waxed, and buffed as scheduledPractice economy by turning off all utilities when not needed, and practices "preventive maintenance" by keeping all door stops, lock, etc. in serviceable conditionClean door facings and washes windows as scheduledKeep restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, etc. clean and replenishes supplies as neededMaintain school yard as scheduledAttend custodial training and/or in service sessionsReport any damage or maintenance needs to proper authorityMay be required to do some paintingKeep light bulbs and tubes replacedFollow daily duty schedule as assigned by Lead CustodianOperate tools and equipment according to established safety proceduresFollow established safety procedures to perform job dutiesMove furniture or equipment as requiredPunctual and dependablePerform other duties as assigned, based on campus needsMust complete designated district technology proficiencies each yearRequires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skillsAbility to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resourcesMaintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearanceEnsure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of EthicsDaily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the jobSupervisory Responsibilities:
