This position is expected to interface heavily with our clients and develop new opportunities. The Associate Scientist is expected to provide project management as well as project support for other staff. Our projects range from the oil and gas sector to infrastructure development to planning.Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement database solutions to support various applications and ensure their stability, reliability, and performance.Manage database security, backup, recovery, and integrity.Monitor database performance and tune the system for optimal efficiency.Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).Implement data models and database designs, data access, and table maintenance codes.Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreements.Coordinate with teams to manage database servers and storage systems.Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and provide technical support.Conduct regular database capacity planning and performance analysis.Manage and mentor junior database administrators and staff.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in database management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.Professional certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database Specialty) is preferred.Extensive experience with database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.Proven track record of designing and managing large-scale, complex database systems.Skills:
Proficient in SQL and database performance tuning.Strong knowledge of database security and data protection.Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools.Experience with database automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.Preferred Experience:
Experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.Experience in a DevOps environment with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes.Physical Requirements:
